In the wake of the recent terrorist incidents in the country and the nationwide declaration of three days of public mourning, the flag of Imam Reza shrine was draped in black as a symbol of solidarity with the victims.
The attacks, described in the report as supported by foreign actors, have prompted widespread public reaction. People across Iran are expected to take part in demonstrations today to voice their condemnation of the events and the external interference cited in the report.
In line with the mourning period, and coinciding with the approaching martyrdom anniversary of Imam Musa ibn Ja‘far—the 7th Imam in the Shia tradition—and the funeral ceremonies for security personnel killed in the attacks, the shrine’s traditional green flag was replaced with a black one.
