In the first night of the three Nights of Destiny (laylatolghadr in Arabic), Imam Reza shrine hosted special vigil ceremony for non-Iranian visitors, including Arabic-speaking, Urdu-speaking, and Azeri-speaking pilgrims.
On the evening of Ramadan 19 (March 8), Ghadir Portico of the shrine hosted special vigil programs for Urdu-speaking pilgrims from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
Also, Arabic-speaking pilgrims from Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain, the UAE gathered at Dar al-Rahmah Portico of Imam Reza shrine to hold the vigil ceremony.
Azeri-speaking pilgrims from Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Tajikistan converged at Dar al-Tafsir of Sheikh Tabarsi Sanctuary to perform Night of Destiny rituals.
Nights of Destiny are special nights of Ramadan (19, 21, 23) when Shia Muslims commemorate Imam Ali and mourn his martyrdom. They hold vigil and perform special rituals such as prayers, elegies, sermons and holding Quran over head.
