The ceremony happened for the first time and it had pilgrims from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, and some other countries in participation, said Lesani, adding: “The spiritual ritual was held during Ramadan at Goharshad mosque of the complex”.
According to him, the time and place of the ceremony was expanded upon the request of the Office for Foreign Pilgrims’ Affairs and at the agreement of the custodian of Astan Qods Razavi (AQR). As a result, the ritual was held both in Ramadan and Shaban.
“The ceremony accepted applications of 100 foreign pilgrims from six countries in a way that those who had not been able to participate in last Itikaf ceremony in holy month of Rajab, found chance to participate in new Itikaf ceremony,” said Lesani.
Lesani concluded: “Participants enjoyed many different spiritual and religious programs during the ritual and received cultural gifts at the end of the ceremony”.
