IRIU scholar joins IEEE ISIT 2025 scientific committee
A faculty member of Imam Reza International University (IRIU) contributes to scientific review of ISIT 2025, leading global event in information theory.

A faculty member of the Electrical Engineering Department at Imam Reza International University has joined the scientific committee of the 75th IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (ISIT 2025), one of the most prestigious international conferences in this field.
Dr. Monireh Houshmand, associate professor of electrical engineering, served on the scientific committee in the quantum error correction track.
ISIT 2025 was hosted by the University of Michigan in the United States and is regarded as a major global platform for cutting edge research in information theory.
ISIT, held under the IEEE Information Theory Society for more than seven decades, enjoys a distinguished position among international scientific events. It annually brings together leading researchers and experts from universities and research centers around the world to present and discuss the latest developments in information theory and related disciplines.
The presence of a faculty member from IRIU in the scientific committee highlights the university’s academic standing and reflects the active role of its scholars in frontier fields such as quantum technologies and advanced information theory.
This year’s symposium focused on topics including quantum error correcting codes, quantum channel capacity, information theoretic cryptography, information theoretic machine learning, and secure communications in complex systems.
The involvement of IRIU’s specialists created an opportunity to expand scientific cooperation, strengthen international networks, and exchange new ideas on the future of information and communication technologies.
Dr. Houshmand completed her PhD dissertation on quantum error correction at Ferdowsi University with top distinction and pursued postdoctoral research in quantum secure computation at the National University of Singapore, Singapore University of Technology and Design, and the Paris Center for Quantum Technologies.
