Ayat. Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, known for jurisprudence, God-fearing character, simplicity: Custodian 

According to Ayat. Ahmad Marvi, AQR’s Custodian: “The Assembly of Experts has made a daring and timely decision at the present juncture. Despite repeated threats from the US, the Assembly judiciously picked the next leader of the Revolution”.
Speaking in a meeting at Velayat Hall of Imam Reza Shrine with a group of university lecturers and faculty members from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Ayat. Marvi expressed condolences for the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali and the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayat. Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who was martyred in a US-Israeli strike on March 1.
Praising the decision made by the Assembly of Experts, he said: “The decision indicates independence and power of the Islamic Revolution”.
Elsewhere in his remarks, head of AQR pointed to the personal characteristics of the newly-appointed leader, stating: “From a seminary point of view, Ayat. Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei is truly sagacious and a stablished Islamic scholar, sitting the classes of grand Ayatollahs such as Vahid Khorasani, late Sheikh Javad Tabrizi, and late Mojtaba Tehrani”.  
"He spent his whole education period in Qom, mainly learning deductive discussion skills, and enjoying high scientific talents”, the top official added.
Pointing to the simplicity and God-fearing aspects of the late Leader’s children, Ayat. Marvi stated: “Their lifestyle is based on devoutness, abstention and simplicity”.
"Knowledge, Ijtihad, jurisprudence, devoutness, and abstention are among personal traits of Ayat. Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei”, he noted.
AQR’s Custodian went on to say that sound analysis of current affairs is a must to prevent confusions in society, noting: “Creating hope and foresightedness comes true only when affairs are considered correctly and logically”.
He further stressed on preserving unity and said: “Keeping unity under these circumstances is a necessity. People’s steadfastness and presence in the streets under bombardments is a sign of divine victory. Without a doubt, Iran will come out triumphant from this ordeal”.
Elaborating on the personality of the martyred Leader, Ayat Marvi said: “His personality is indeed unknown to many; that is, we couldn’t introduce his personality completely and usually talked about those aspects most compatible with our liking”.
He called knowledge, jurisprudence, vast vision in various fields, good memory, constant reading, etc. among his most prominent features, adding: “He would read a lot, therefore, had comprehensive understanding of all matters. Martyrdom only elevated his personality, spreading his ethos more than ever in society. He himself welcomed martyrdom and was never in love with title and position. He would not fear anything in defending values. He was steadfast in defense of national goals, and at the same time was humble when criticized”.
Ayat Marvi also talked about roots of animosity between the West and Iran, saying: “The problem with Iran is not only nuclear issue or human rights, rather, the present conflict is civilizational identity”. 
Talking about civilizational issues in the wake of the dissolution of the USSR, he noted: “After the dissolution of the Former Soviet Union, two main civilizational arguments came fore: first, the theory of ‘End of History’, based on which they claimed the Western Liberal civilization will ultimately prevail and other civilizations will gradually disappear”.
He continued: “The second theory is ‘Clash of Civilizations’ – a more documented and well-rounded theory, which is about three main civilizations: Chinese civilization, Russian civilization, and the Islamic civilization in Iran. Based on this theory, the most important civilization that the West is fighting with is the Islamic civilization in Iran – not Islam in other countries like Saudi Arabia, but the one formed in Iran”.
"They are in a civilizational war with Iran and nuclear issue is only an excuse. They know pretty well that Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons. Iran is a member of NPT, inspection cameras are installed in nuclear sites and IAEA’s inspectors are free to come and see for themselves”, AQR’s Custodian stated.
Talking about the historical clash between civilizations, he maintained: “In the past, two main great civilizations – Persia and Rome – conflicted with each other. The West knows Iranian civilization well, and today is faced with an entity that has both a historical background and rooted in Islamic civilization”.
Ayat Marvi pointed to Imam Khomeini’s role in challenging Western civilization, saying: “Imam Khomeini challenged the West; and ever since the Revolution, attempts have been made to subvert it; however, as their plots have been foiled so far, they won’t be able to do any damn thing from here on out”.
AQR’s Custodian added that the US, as the flag-bearer of the Western civilization, is facing off with the three important countries of Iran, Russia and China now.
He further referred to a number of cases where the US reneged on promises. “Washington and Moscow agreed in 1990 that NATO must not spread to Eastern Europe; however, the organization later included 14 East European countries into its pact”.
“In 1979, the US and China signed ‘One-China Policy’ agreement, based on which Washington accepted Taiwan as part of China; however, Clinton invited Taiwan president to the US in 1995 and recognized it as an independent country”, Ayat Marvi continued. 
He stressed: “What the Martyred Leader referred to as US’s unfaithful behavior regarding promises is rooted in historical facts. As for Iran, it took three years for the US to walk out of the JCPOA”.
Stating that an independent Iran is unbearable for the West, AQR’s head noted: “Even during Mosaddegh’s primiership, when Iran opted for independence regarding oil industry, the US could not stomach it, despite the fact that it was during the monarchical rule”.
“Therefore, the problem is not solely hostility toward Iran; the West is at loggerheads with anyone or any country that is seeking independence and power”, he stressed.
Ayat Marvi emphasized on the vital role of universities to explain these historical facts, saying: “The professors must clearly explain these facts to the younger generations and establish a good rapport with them. The atmosphere for safe questioning needs to be promoted so that students do not balk at expressing their views freely, as it is a natural tendency within them”.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Custodian of AQR pointed to the significance of medical healthcare, stating: “Regarding medical care and social health system, we will do our utmost. I demanded that Razavi Hospital provide all the necessary equipment, since public health is of paramount importance”.
“AQR will support medical healthcare as much as possible; if we could even save one soul, it is highly important; therefore, alleviating the patients’ worries about the treatment process is an imperative”, he stressed.
The top official referred to academic institutions and their role in the development of the country, saying: “These facilities play crucial role in building the future; therefore, they should be high on agenda”.
Ayat Marvi concluded his remarks by talking about the scientific capacities of the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad, noting: “Given the great academic institutions in Mashhad, the city has high capabilities. The two main universities of Ferdowsi and Mashhad University of Medical Sciences have created a valuable scientific capacity for the city, and Astan Qods Razavi added to this matchless capability”.
