AQR preserves around 900 ancient copies of works by Thiqatul-Islam Kulayni
Some 897 manuscripts and lithographic prints centered on Thiqatul-Islam Kulayni are preserved in the Central Library of Astan Qods Razavi, says Hoj. Seyyed Jalal Hosseini, head of the Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Documents Center of Astan Qods Razavi.

Hoj. Hosseini said: “Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ya'qub ibn Ishaq al-Kulayni al-Razi, known as 'Thiqatul-Islam,' was a famous Shia tradition scholar of the 3rd and 4th centuries AH and the author of the noble book 'Al-Kafi.' He was unparalleled in his time in the science of tradition and jurisprudence”.
He noted: “Al-Kafi is the most comprehensive and superior of the four major tradition collections, compiled in three sections: Usul (Principles), Furu' (Branches), and Rawdah (Garden). Other works by Thiqatul-Islam Kulayni include 'Kitab al-Rijal,' 'Ta'bir al-Ru'ya,' and 'Fazl al-Quran”.
He stated: “The oldest lithographic book of Thiqatul-Islam Kulayni's works in AQR Central Library is 'Usul al-Kafi that is preserved under property number of 23950”.
Hoj. Hosseini further stated: “The manuscript of Al-Kafi numbered 13800, transcribed in 675 AH, is considered the oldest manuscript of Kulayni's works in this library”.
Hoj. Hosseini stated: "Manuscript number 8524 is another valuable copy of Al-Kafi by Shaykh Kulayni in this library, which bears the handwriting of Allamah Majlisi. In fact, this work contains several notifications, endorsements, and permissions for narration from Allamah Majlisi to the scribe of the work, dated 1087 AH”.
Hoj. Hosseini also mentioned: “Scholars and researchers can visit researcher's hall at the library and receive digital images of these works in considerable quality and use them in their studies and research. The organization also provides remote services to scholars and researchers through the website of AQR Digital Library at https://digital.aqr.ir”.
It is worth mentioning that May 9th has been designated in the official national calendar as the commemoration day of Thiqatul-Islam Kulayni.
