Indonesia desk, AQR intl. affairs expand cooperation review

Indonesia desk at Astan Quds Razavi (AQR) has held sessions to examine cultural and religious cooperation priorities between Imam Reza shrine and the Southeast Asian country.

AQR’s Deputy Office for International Affairs has been working to strengthen cultural and religious ties by assessing cooperation capacities in Muslim countries, including Indonesia, along with relevant international institutions.
As part of its regional consultation series, the office held a specialized Indonesia desk to review opportunities, priorities, and areas of collaboration between Imam Reza shrine and Indonesia. The desk convened in two sessions on December 3 and 10.
The meetings were attended by Mohammad Boroujerdi, Iran’s ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammadreza Ebrahimi, Iran’s cultural attaché in Indonesia, Mohammad Mahdavi Manesh, director of the International Studies Office at the Ahlul Bayt World Assembly and head of its East Asia and Oceania department, and Hassani, secretary of the Far East and Balkans Committee at the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.
Representatives from the Northeast Office of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization of Khorasan Razavi also took part in the discussions.
Key topics included identifying thematic priorities for AQR’s international engagement in Indonesia, assessing opportunities for presence and cooperation, reviewing obstacles and challenges facing international activities, and proposing practical solutions to address them.
The sessions also evaluated influential Indonesian figures, foundations, and institutions relevant to future collaboration.
The Indonesia desk forms part of AQR’s broader efforts to enhance international relations and make effective use of cultural and religious capacities across Muslim countries. It is considered an important step toward expanding scientific, cultural, and religious cooperation with Indonesia.
