Speaking in an interview with the Office for Preservation and Publication of late Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s works, Ayat. Ahmad Marvi, AQR’s Custodian, explained the path of the martyred Leader, stating: “A glance at the martyrdom rainbow in the Islamic Revolution indicates that a color was missing. From a martyred president to a martyred minister, even parliamentarians, only a martyred leader would complete the rainbow, and the late Ayat. Khamenei completed it with his martyrdom”.
Saying that the enemy wrongly believed the path of truth would be destroyed with martyrdom, he noted: “Had path of truth and humanity been suppressed with martyrdom, Islam and Quran would have been buried with the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and his companions in 61 AD. Not only did it not happen and enemies’ wishes did not come true, but Islam also rose and was guaranteed”.
Ayat. Marvi said that the pure blood of Imam Hussein guaranteed the survival of Islam, Quran and monotheism, adding: “Today, the martyrdom of the late Leader plays such a role at a time the enemies have waged a full-scale war to obliterate Islam and Iran”.
The head of Astan Qods Razavi stressed that Ayat. Khamenei’s blood would foil the machinations of the enemies exactly like Imam Hussein’s blood did to Umayyad’s tyranny.
“The late Leader’s blood and that of others who lost their lives for this sacred cause will definitely guarantee the survival of Islam and Iran. As outlined is the late Leader’s remarks: “God has pledged the ultimate victory for the Iranian nation””, Ayat. Marvi said.
He elaborated on the current duties of people, saying: “If fear, weakness and indifference set in among us today, the enemy will overcome us. But, if we persevere, as we’ve done so far, and stand by our military, the enemy will not be able to harm the nation”.
AQR’s Custodian stated that the Almighty God did not abandon the believers and set a road map for Islam’s persistence, adding: “Follow God’s commandments in order to benefit from His assistance, which will strengthen your steps and make you steadfast”.
He asserted that manifestations of God’s succor are obvious today, noting: “The fact that people do not abandon the mosques and fervently turn out in the streets in support of Revolution despite bombardments is a manifestation of God’s help. People’s hearts are closer to each other as if no catastrophe is unfolding”.
The top official called the most important duty of the people these days as hope and resistance, which was outlined in the late Leader’s remarks. “He was a courageous leader in the real sense of the word. Courage was the most outstanding feature of his qualities. He truly wouldn’t fear any powers on the path of truth, and would only think of God’s mercy to hearten himself. He was hopeful that God will help him. Therefore, we must follow in his footsteps and not fear anything because God is with us”.
Drawing a comparison with Pahlavi era, Ayat. Marvi said: “In the past, someone was the monarch here that fled the country twice. He would return only when the things went back to normal. That was a disgrace for the country and people. But, after the Revolution, someone assumed leadership here who had for nearly forty years, faced multitudes of gruesome ordeals, yet stood up bravely and lost his life for Islam and Iran to survive. This is a source of pride for the nation”.
AQR’s Custodian stressed: “The future generations will praise the courage and resistance of the late Leader against the enemies. Notwithstanding we lost the Commander in Chief and a number of high-ranking generals, retaliatory attacks started in an hour and a half, which indicates managerial skills of the martyred Leader; these skills are also something to be proud of”.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayat. Marvi called the Leader’s martyrdom an irreparable loss, adding: “Despite such a devastating loss, people are present with phenomenal spirit and courage, which is indicative of a monotheistic society”.
Referring to historical incidents of the Islamic Revolution quoted from Imam Khomeini, he continued: “When the president and prime minister got killed in a terrorist attack in 1981, Imam Khomeini said: “Although we lost [president] Rajaei and [Prime Minister] Bahonar, we have God”, this interpretation from Islamic teachings paved the way for divine serenity to prevail in society”.
AQR’s head also pointed out: “After Imam Khomeini’s demise, although we lost our Imam, nothing was derailed. The true owner of this land is Imam Mahdi; he entrusted the flag to another capable leader, and it will be the same today”.
He emphasized: “We must not worry at all about the future of the country after the martyrdom of the Leader. If there are worries, we should reconsider our belief and faith. God will help this nation. Remember our conditions at the start of the eight-year imposed war (1980-1988). Saddam Hussein promised to conquer Tehran in three days! Although he would be right based on material calculations, he overlooked divine power and people’s resistance on the fronts”.
Ayat. Marvi cited another central feature of the late Leader as reliance on God, saying: “The martyred Leader would repeatedly stress on reliance on God in his remarks. One of the ploys enemies use is soft war, is spreading rumors for demoralizing the public. They circulated the rumor that the late Leader was holed up in a shelter or even he was not in Iran! All turned out to be false and he was in his office. Now that this rumor was revealed, let’s not pay attention to other baseless rumors by the enemy”.
He stressed that martyrdom was not annihilation in Islamic culture, noting: “Future will witness how humanity will be impacted by the martyrdom of the Late Leader. Some 1300 years after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, Arbaeen march is still running each year with passion and love, with some 20 million pilgrims in attendance. We need to ask ourselves today where the murderers of Imam Hussein and his companions are. Even their memories have been obliterated”.
“The murderers of Imam Hussein wrongly believed that his martyrdom would eliminate Islam, the Prophet and Ahl al-Bayt. Perhaps, on the evening of Ashura, nobody would bother to think Imam Hussein’s martyrdom would have such a profound impact on humanity. However, history showed which side was right and lived on, and which side was wrong and died out”.
Addressing men, women, and particularly, the youth, he said: “Do not abandon the field. The best way to worship God in the fasting month of Ramadan, after performing the rituals, is being present on the stage of jihad against the great Satan”.
Ayat. Marvi stressed that every alley, street and mosque is a trench today, stating: “O’ forces of God! Hold the trenches in your cities. The martyred Leader would always stress on unity and solidarity”.
The Custodian of Astan Qods Razavi emphasized: “The enemy is looking to disrupt the unity of Iranian nation. If there is a protest, it should be postponed to a time when peace and security is back in the country. Today, we have the wicked enemy of Iran and Islam before us; therefore, if you hear anything against the national unity, even from a person like me, be sure it is the devil’s wish”.
He suggested: “With your presence, you can turn this martyrdom to an eternal lesson for the posterity. This is the best appreciation of 70 years of fighting and selfless service by the martyred Leader. A leader who bravely stood against the attacks by the US, Israel and their allies, and did not cave in, he did not even leave his office. Where could you find such a leader?”
Ayat. Marvi also asked the people to pray for [the victory of] military forces – the army, the IRGC, the Basij, etc.
He called on the people to support the decisions adopted by the interim leadership council. “I know for a fact that the martyred Leader was happy with the performance of the heads of three branches of the government”.
