Approximately 2,500 Afghan pilgrims traveled to Mashhad, northeast Iran, to participate in the funeral ceremonies of the Martyred Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
A group of these devotees convened for a special mourning ceremony under the auspices of Astan Qods Razavi (AQR) at Ghadir Portico of Imam Reza Shrine to express their profound connection to the culture of Wilayah and the Ahl al-Bayt.
Held on Saturday evening, July 11, the ceremony served as a testament to the enduring bond between the people of Afghanistan and the Islamic Revolution. Attendees requested the indoor venue at Ghadir Portico due to the high temperatures, transforming the space into a sanctuary of collective grief and determination.
Hoj. Vahidi addressed the assembly, acknowledging the presence of the Afghan pilgrims.
He noted the personality of the Martyred Leader, the significance of Wilayah in the Islamic Ummah, and the role of the Islamic Republic in upholding the dignity of Muslims.
He characterized the passionate participation of the Afghan people as a vivid manifestation of the unity and empathy existing within the Islamic Ummah.
Lamentations filled Ghadir Portico as mourners engaged in traditional chest-beating and recited elegies.
Men, women, and the elderly held banners inscribed with "O Commander of the Oppressed," symbolizing their commitment to the path of resistance despite geographical distances. The ceremony concluded with a prayer, reinforcing the covenant between these devoted hearts and the ideals of the Islamic Revolution under the golden dome of Imam Reza Shrine.
