Sarakhs Special Economic Zone is positioning itself as a strategic transit hub in eastern Iran, with major industrial and rail projects underway.
During a field visit to production units and logistics sites, CEO Mohammadreza Rajabi Moghadam emphasized the region’s critical role in national transit and economic growth.
Speaking with workers and industrial managers, Rajabi Moghadam urged uninterrupted production despite winter conditions, stressing that maximum capacity must be utilized to sustain Sarakhs’s economic development.
“The prosperity of the county is directly tied to the performance of the Special Economic Zone, where industrial activity and infrastructure projects drive production growth, job creation, and regional economic vitality”, he noted.
Inspecting the rail logistics phase, he described: “Current achievements are unparalleled nationwide”.
With approximately 85 percent of Iran’s rail transit passing through Sarakhs’s border last year, the CEO urged accelerating private rail site operations and addressing existing deficiencies.
Rajabi Moghadam also visited the International Logistics Park project, jointly developed by Astan Quds Razavi and a Chinese company.
He announced the installation of heavy reach stacker cranes capable of handling high tonnage containers. According to planning, the first container shipments from China to Europe via the East West corridor are expected to pass through Sarakhs by the end of January.
Concluding his remarks, the CEO stressed that strengthening logistics infrastructure, boosting production capacity, and fostering synergy between government bodies and domestic and foreign investors are decisive factors in consolidating Sarakhs’s position as one of Iran’s key transit and economic hubs.
