A veteran Quran reciter at Imam Reza Shrine has described the Martyred Leader as both a Quranic genius and a leader who fully embodied the teachings of the holy book in his conduct.
Mohammad Javad Panahi, a senior Quranic reciter at the holy shrine, reflected on the Martyred Leader’s long history of promoting Quranic culture, noting: “Even before the Islamic Revolution, the Martyred Leader held interpretation and teaching sessions in Mashhad, helping strengthen Quranic engagement among the public”.
Panahi stated: “He was truly a recognized authority in Quranic sciences and a genuine genius.”
Panahi, who first recited in the presence of the Martyred Leader in 1984 at the age of 19, explained that the experience remained one of the most memorable moments of his life. “Reciting before the Martyred Leader was regarded as a significant honor for any reciter.”
He added that the Martyred Leader possessed a remarkable command of Arabic literature and specific Quranic disciplines, including pronunciation rules, mastery of pauses and sentence flow, as well as vocal range and melodic structure.
Panahi explained: “Whenever a reciter made a mistake, he would point it out with precision and kindness.”
He also highlighted the influence of the Martyred Leader’s annual meetings with Quran reciters, saying they inspired young and experienced reciters alike to improve both technically and spiritually.
Panahi maintained that preserving the Martyred Leader’s legacy requires attention to three core priorities: expanding Quran education sessions, deepening understanding of the text, and developing recitation platforms in mosques and religious centers under the guidance of institutions like Astan Qods Razavi (AQR).
