AQR deputy custodian says “According to official statistics, around 4.7 million pilgrims have entered the holy city of Mashhad from various cities across the country. Of this number, about 700,000 pilgrims have reached the holy shrine on foot via connecting routes.”
Pointing to measures taken to respond to the massive influx of pilgrims, he said, “To serve mourning pilgrims and the people of Mashhad, more than 200 mukibs around the holy shrine are actively providing accommodation and catering services.”
The AQR deputy custodian further said, “More than 1,700 mourning groups from different parts of the country have entered the holy shrine to express their devotion and hold mourning ceremonies.”
Highlighting the challenges of crowd management during these days, Feizi said, “We are facing a number of pilgrims far greater than previously predicted, as pilgrims arrived in Mashhad earlier than expected. Therefore, all facilities of Astan Quds Razavi and the city of Mashhad have been mobilized to provide continuous services to pilgrims.”
The AQR deputy custodian called on government officials to assist the organization in managing traffic and providing services during the pilgrims’ return journeys by maximizing the mobilization of available resources.
