Imam Reza Shrine to hold mourning ceremony in English 

 Imam Reza Shrine, in cooperation with Imam Reza International University and the Office for Non-Iranian Pilgrims’ Affairs, will host an English-language mourning ceremony on Tuesday, August 12, coinciding with Safar 27. 
The event is scheduled to take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and is open to professors, international students, students of the English language department, and the general public.
The program will feature a keynote address in English, and a recitation of the pilgrimage prayers and elegies. 
By conducting these ceremonies in English, the Imam Reza Shrine seeks to provide a dedicated cultural and religious platform for international students and English-speaking pilgrims. 
The initiative offers a unique opportunity for global visitors to deepen their understanding of the mourning traditions and the teachings of the Prophet’s household.
The ceremony is open to both men and women. Interested participants are invited to register via the official messaging handle @iriuintl by Monday, August 11, 2026.
The upcoming event follows the success of the inaugural English-language mourning ceremony, which was held for international and English department students during the night of Tasu'a. That initial gathering, organized under the "Spring of Razavi" assembly, aimed to strengthen the connection between international students and the culture of Ashura. Following the positive reception of that program, authorities have emphasized the importance of maintaining these sessions on a monthly basis, utilizing a rational and thought-oriented approach to engage the global community through the English language.
