Nation’s most modern student dormitory inaugurated in presence of AQR Custodian

Najmeh Khatoon House, described as the nation’s most modern student dormitory, was officially inaugurated at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in a ceremony attended by the Custodian of Astan Qods Razavi (AQR). The dormitory was built with 1,780 billion rials in funding from public donations.

The opening ceremony for the Najmeh Khatoon female student dormitory was held on September 20, coinciding with the auspicious birth anniversary of Imam Hassan Askari. The ceremony was attended by Ayat. Ahmad Marvi, Custodian of Astan Qods Razavi (AQR), Dr. Mahmoud Shabestari, President of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, and several provincial officials.
The President of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences expressed gratitude to the Custodian of AQR for his efforts to bring the Najmeh Khatoon project to completion. He described the initiative by the holy shrine as highly valuable in facilitating the education of female students.
“Access to proper dormitory facilities was a long-standing concern for medical students, as appropriate living conditions significantly influence the quality of academic performance,” he noted.
He stated, “In this regard, with the benevolence of the Custodian of AQR, the Najmeh Khatoon student dormitory, covering an area of 1.8 hectares with a total infrastructure of more than 8,261 square meters, has been put into operation. The facility includes 106 residential units designed to accommodate 424 medical students on the university campus.”
During a visit to the student dormitories of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences during Ramadan last year (2025), Ayat. Marvi heard students’ concerns and requests regarding the expansion of dormitory facilities. Following his agreement, the Najmeh Khatoon female student dormitory was constructed and inaugurated on the university campus under the auspices of AQR and with the participation of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
