The story of its creation began when the scholar Molla Mohsen Fayz Kashani who proposed opening a small window toward the sacred enclosure, allowing lovers to whisper their prayers directly to the shrine.
Though its surface now gleams with gold, the name Foulad remains—a reminder of the first window once made of steel.
Today, the memory of Panjereh Foulad is not confined to Enghelab Eslami Courtyard. In Jomhuri Eslami Courtyard, another similar window—more ornate and rich with inscriptions—invites devotees to gaze upon the sacred burial chamber.
In Gowharshad Courtyard as well, a window with three lattices and an azure inscription of Surah al‑Fatiha offers a softer, more intimate space for prayer.
Each of these windows forms a link in an endless chain, bringing to every distant pilgrim the fragrance of nearness and presence.
