Hazaras of Afghanistan hold traditional mourning ceremony at the shrine

Around 5 thousand Hazara people of Afghanistan held traditional ceremony of "Lowering the Alam (flag) Head" and mourning ceremonies on the eve of martyrdom of Imam Sajjad (AS) in Kowsar courtyard of Imam Reza Shrine.

This ceremony, which was held for the third consecutive year, provided an opportunity for large community of Hazara Shias of Afghanistan, who had traveled from various parts of the country including Kabul, Mazar-i-Sharif, and Herat to Mashhad, northeast Iran.
This symbolic ritual marked the end of mourning ceremonies of the first ten days of Muharram among these religious groups.
This spiritual event was accompanied by recitation of verses from the holy Quran by Mr. Karim Mohseni. Subsequently, Hoj. Seyyed Abdullah Hosseini delivered a speech on virtues and conduct of Imam Sajjad (AS).
The second part of the ceremony was continued by eulogy recitations of prominent Ahl al-Bayt’s (AS) panegyrists namely Javad Heidari, Seyyed Ehsan Hosseini, Mohammad Barati, Mohagheghzadeh, Seyyed Abbas, Ahmad Javidi, Sadegh Hosseini, Alireza Yousefi, and Seyyed Reza Hosseini.
At the end of this magnificent gathering, six mourning blessed fabric inscriptions were presented to attending groups as a sign of respect and appreciation for presence of these sincere servants and mourners.
