Razavi Hospital upgrades nuclear medicine, introduces new radiopharmaceuticals

Dr. Mohsen Mehvar, CEO of the specialized Razavi Hospital, announced significant advancements in the institution’s nuclear medicine department. 
“By upgrading the cyclotron unit and expanding production infrastructure, the hospital has enhanced its capacity to produce essential radiopharmaceuticals. These technical improvements form the foundation for delivering modern diagnostic and therapeutic services to cancer patients”, he explained.
Among the most notable recent additions is the introduction of Radium, which facilitates both therapeutic intervention and diagnostic imaging, particularly for bone metastasis. Furthermore, the hospital has initiated treatment using Actinium for eligible patients. These additions complement existing protocols, ensuring that the hospital remains at the forefront of oncology care.
The health facility has also launched the use of F-PSMA, a specialized radiopharmaceutical designed to diagnose prostate cancer and detect metastases with greater precision than previous methods. This is provided alongside ongoing Lutetium therapy for prostate cancer patients. 
“PET/CT imaging, which combines functional and anatomical data, remains vital for the early detection and effective staging of various malignancies”, Dr. Mehvar emphasized.
The center continues to attract patients not only from across Iran but also from neighboring nations, including Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Many international visitors seek specialized treatments, such as iodine therapy. To further support these patients and reduce unnecessary travel, the hospital has implemented online visitation services, ensuring that high-quality care is accessible and efficient.
