Scholar emphasizes universal message of Imam Hussein

Chris Hewer, a British scholar specializing in Christian-Muslim relations and Christian theology, recently visited the media station of Imam Reza International University at Pillar 840 along the Arbaeen pilgrimage route. 
Speaking on the enduring significance of the event, Hewer highlighted that the message of Imam Hussein transcends religious and geographical boundaries.
Hewer, who has dedicated decades to studying Islam and the Shia tradition, noted: “Arbaeen serves as a reminder that the pursuit of justice and truth remains relevant across all eras. This invitation is not limited to prominent figures". 
"It calls upon ordinary people to serve in their own ways and remain obedient to the truth", the scholar added. 
He emphasized that the spiritual discipline practiced by pilgrims—a state of constant remembrance—reflects a life lived in accordance with divine guidance.
Discussing the presence of Imam Mahdi within the pilgrimage, Hewer observed: “The spirit of the Imam is manifested through the thousands of pilgrims who emulate his teachings. When individuals follow the path of the Quran and the family of the Prophet, they actively bring his presence into their midst”.
Describing Imam Hussein as a pivotal figure in history, Hewer argued: “The Imam serves as a model for all humanity. The sacrifice made by the Imam and his family to stand against oppression demonstrates the power of commitment to moral principles”. 
In his written works, including ‘Hussein and the Struggle for Justice’, Hewer posits that the martyrdom at Karbala is not solely a Shia concern but an inspiration for all generations.
The media station also engaged with pilgrims from nations including India, Nigeria, and Madagascar, underscoring the universal appeal of the Arbaeen gathering. These interactions highlight the growing international resonance of the pilgrimage as a movement centered on ethics, resilience, and human solidarity.
